Annual Water Quality Report Available from Connecticut Water

CLINTON, CONNECTICUT, August 15, 2007 — Connecticut Water Company’s 2006 Water Quality Report clearly demonstrates that the water delivered to customers meets or is better than state and federal standards for drinking water.  The report, which provides extensive information for customers about our sources of supply, water quality results, source protection and conversation measures, was recently mailed to more than 83,000 Connecticut Water customers.  Customers are encouraged to read the report which summarizes the results of more than 170,000 water quality tests conducted in 2006, and provides information about where their water comes from and how it is treated and tested.

Connecticut Water collects water samples before the water is treated, during the treatment process and in the distribution system before it reaches a customer’s home. Water quality samples are tested at laboratories certified by the Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH) and test results are submitted to DPH’s Drinking Water Division.

“We are proud of our water quality record,” said Kevin Walsh, director of Water Quality. “Our customers can be assured we are committed to providing them with safe, reliable, high-quality drinking water.  This is evident in the Water Quality Report results, as well as our continued recognition by the Environmental Protection Agency’s Partnership for Safe Water.”  Connecticut Water is a recipient of the Partnership for Safe Water’s Directors Award, for its commitment to providing superior quality water to its customers and maintaining quality facilities and processes.

In addition to drinking water quality information, the report includes tips on how to conserve water indoors and outdoors, how to help reduce contaminants from entering rivers, lakes and reservoirs, and other educational material about Lead and Copper, Fluoride, Nitrates and Chlorine.

Some consumers, especially those living in apartments, condominiums or multi-family homes, might not have received a water quality report if they are not the billed customer of record with Connecticut Water.  These consumers can obtain a free copy of the water quality report by calling 1-800-286-5700 between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, except holidays, or by stopping by one of Connecticut Water’s region offices. The report is also available at Connecticut Water’s Web site:  www.ctwater.com.
