Connecticut Water’s Maureen Westbrook
Elected to National Association of Water Companies
Board of Directors
CLINTON, CONNECTICUT, November 17, 2009 – Maureen P. Westbrook, vice president Customer Service and Regulatory Affairs at Connecticut Water Company, was elected to serveon the Board of Directors of the National Association of Water Companies (NAWC). Westbrook’s appointment was made in October 2009, at NAWC’s National Drinking Water Symposium in Orlando, Florida.
A Connecticut Water employee for 21 years, Westbrook is a member of the NAWC’s Government Relations and Customer Service Committees, as well as a board member of itsNew England Chapter. NAWC represents companies of varying sizes, from large, investor-owned utilities, to smaller companies that serve towns and small municipalities.
“I am looking forward to my expanded role within the NAWC and working with my colleagues on national issues that affect our customers and the water industry as a whole,” said Westbrook. “We all share the common goal of being good stewards of the environment and sustaining our water resources for future generations.”
In addition to her role in NAWC, Westbrook has held board or committee positions with the Connecticut Water Works Association, American Water Works Association, Connecticut’s Water Planning Council Advisory Group, and is a member of the Association of Connecticut Lobbyists.She earned a Master’s degree in Environmental Pollution Control from Pennsylvania State University and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Smith College in Northampton, Mass.
On the local level, Westbrook is a resident of Westbrook, Conn., where she is vice chair of the Board of Education. In addition, she has served on the Westbrook Library Board and in various volunteer capacities with school and community organizations.
