Connecticut Water Service, Inc. is the largest domestic investor-owned utility in New England. With multiple work sites in Connecticut and 200+ employees, the company serves over 87,000 customers in 42 towns. This position, with a high degree of independence, will report to the V.P. of Human Resources and provide a high level of support in project management and the administration of the Company’s human resource function. Leads or participates in the planning and implementation of human resources programs, policies and procedures and measures outcomes.
The Human Resources Manager acts as a business partner providing advice, guidance, and support on a wide range of HR strategies and programs to drive business results. Coordinates the organization wide recruitment effort to attract high quality candidates. Maintains affirmative action program. Serves as an internal consultant for employee relations issues, policy interpretation, new employee and management development. Develops and/or facilitates employee and management training programs to assure maximum effectiveness. Collaborates with Human Resource Representatives for FMLA, disability and workers’ compensation claims and leaves of absence. Represents HR department on the safety committee, determines and coordinates any human resource participation required to assure safety and security compliance. Assists VP with other special projects or daily functions, including leading or participating in the planning and implementation of human resource programs, policies and procedures, salary/benefits administration and strategy, and other human resources activities.
The duties of this position require a broad background of experience and education in Human Relations procedures and employment law and the Company’s general office operations. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively address all levels within the organization. Sound judgment, negotiation/persuasion skills and a high degree of confidentiality are essential. Valid driver’s license and regular travel within the State of CT is required.
Job Competencies/Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Generally 7+ years of HR experience preferred
Demonstrated expertise in all major HR disciplines
