Flushing

Hydrant Flushing

Connecticut Water periodically flushes its fire hydrants to ensure that the hydrants are in good working order and to maintain the quality of our water. Occasionally, hydrant flushing can result in discolored water. These conditions are not harmful and do not last very long. Customers are encouraged to avoid using washing machines, dishwashers or other water using devices during flushing operations. Briefly running the cold water tap may help to clear discolored water. If discolored water or low pressure persists after several hours call Connecticut Water at 1-800-286-5700.
