Killingworth Reservoir Dam

Connecticut Water is proud of the Killingworth Reservoir Dam project which improved our ability to service customers in Clinton, Guilford, Madison, Westbrook and Old Saybrook. The dam was put into service in August 2005 to increase the capacity of the Killingworth Reservoir by 60 percent. This increased the safe yield of the Killingworth/Kelseytown Reservoir System by 800,000 gallons per day.

By raising the reservoir’s water storage level to five feet, Connecticut Water increased the reservoir’s storage volume from 254 to 415 million gallons. This increases the safe daily supply from 2.3 to 3.2 million gallons per day. It also expands the reservoir’s surface area from 88 to 109 acres.
