Water Quality Report

Our No. 1 goal is to provide customers with safe, reliable drinking water. Each year more than 170,000 water quality tests are conducted on the water delivered to Connecticut Water Company customers. That’s an average of 400 tests every day. Our water is routinely tested for more than 120 potential contaminants and parameters that could affect the quality of your tap water. The results of these water quality tests are summarized in an annual water quality report that is mailed to customers each summer.

We monitor and test water quality in each of our 66 different water systems across the state and report on the results of the water quality testing, and the source(s) of the drinking water supply. In addition, the report includes information about the Source Water Assessment by the Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH), which is used to evaluate potential sources of contamination.

Some towns are served by more than one water system. If you are not sure which systems serves your premises please call our customer service staff at 1-800-286-5700 or e-mail us your address. We also have additional information about water quality in our fact sheets on Lead in Drinking Water, Fluoride in Drinking Water, Chlorine in Drinking Water and Low Risk of Pharmaceuticals in Drinking Water in Connecticut.

* The Northern-Western water system Annual Water Quality Report initially posted to the website had a typographical error in the range of detections for lead. The correct range is 2 to 210. All other results for lead are correct and the water system is in full compliance with all water quality standards, including lead.
