Many of Connecticut Water's water systems support public fire protection in its service communities by having the necessary infrastructure to deliver hundreds of gallons per minute to fire hydrants. The infrastructure needed to provide hundreds or thousands of gallons per minute to fire hydrants is far different than a water system that serves a residential neighborhood without hydrants.
