Connecticut Water Invites customers to learn about where their water comes from, and ends up, during facility open houses

SOUTHBURY, Conn., May 12, 2026 — Connecticut Water invites customers and the public to learn about where their water comes from, and where it goes, during an upcoming open house at a drinking water treatment facility and a wastewater treatment facility in Heritage Village system.
“Our team of local water professionals are eager to share the tools we use to filter and treat water to remove impurities, and test its quality,” Connecticut Water President Craig J. Patla said. “Events like these combine the fundamental building blocks of our company – customers, employees, and communities. We know high-quality drinking water, reliable service and wastewater treatment are essential to our customers and the community, and this is great way to share our commitment to service.”
Open House at Heritage Village Drinking Water Treatment Facility
Come see the fascinating, complicated processes involved with delivering high-quality drinking water during an open house at Connecticut Water’s new Heritage Village Drinking Water Treatment Facility, which serves portions of Middlebury, Oxford, and Southbury. The facility, designed to remove naturally occurring minerals that have historically caused discolored water, began operating in the fall. It’s capable of producing up to 2 million gallons of drinking water per day.

Our dedicated team of Connecticut Water professionals will guide visitors through the facility and demonstrate how biosolids are safely removed and treated in our system. The facility handles wastewater from more than 3,000 customers, treating more than 150 million gallons of wastewater each year. After a major upgrade in 2013, the facility treats wastewater from 33 miles of sewer lines.
